Often because of the movies people are left wondering what the Australian architecture is like. Are homes filled with swamp water, crocodiles and koalas? Most likely they are not, but the Australian architecture does depict a variation of modern design in some places and a blend to the environment in others.

Showcased here you will see a variety of different Australian architecture designs and concepts from the inside to the outside. Each home was designed with a family in mind to live in it, with room to spare in many cases. But it is not just the family these designers have in mind, it’s also the great scenery of the places they are built.

From overseeing the ocean to green fields, there is no end to the possibilities of a home that can have it all. There are great places to view the sunset and many times it can be from the upper deck of your home. These designers have taken the great outback and brought into the home in some cases so that you get a feel of Australia right inside the home.

From large outdoor patios, to a private pool, you will find many different designs that will leave you speechless and wanting to take a trip to the world down under.

The site falls by two storeys from Hartley St to the lane at the rear; creating a unified living plane was one of the key design gestures in this project. Kitchen, living and dining engage with the courtyard-like garden with a studio sitting atop the garage at the rear boundary, creating an amphitheatre back to the main house.

Upstairs the spaces are quiet and restful; bedrooms and a secluded, contemplative library divided by a glazed void with views to the sky.

Located in Australia, this modern home by Vibe Design Group has an exterior that was inspired by 60s and 70s stereo cabinets.

The house sits atop steel posts reminiscent of stereo cabinet legs and featuring vertical slats that evoke the feeling of speaker casing. I love the glowing pool, transparent railings, and feeling of privacy and openness at the same time.

This building takes full advantage of being on the sunny side of the street. Where sun access and vistas to Sydney Harbour are the same you have to embrace it.

Three levels of the building topped with a roof terrace create dramatic composition above the street that is controlled by interplay of horizontal elements.

Unusually for houses in the surrounding suburb, part of the outdoor functions are in the street frontage and above the street, rather than being hidden behind high fences.
